We all are hungry at various points in our day. Sometimes, we even consider ourselves starving if we have not eaten in 4 hours or more. Countless others in impoverished conditions and countries experience deep, mind altering hunger everyday. Hunger changes your behavior. It brings out parts of your personality that you did not know existed. It can make you do the wildest things just to satisfy that base desire. Hunger drives you. Pursues you. Consumes you. Hunger is relentless. This is the type of hunger that I want for God. That deep, all consuming pursuit for Him and what He wants for me. Yeah, that’s it. I no longer want to question the plans that He has set and begun in my life. I want to pursue a love relationship with God like my life depends upon it. In all actuality, my life, and the lives of my children depend on it. My bloodline is depending upon the actions and decisions that I make daily with my time, talents, and treasures. I have to live out Matt. 6:33 (NLT) which says “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” I am assured that God will meet me and reveal himself to me if I obey Him. John 14:21 (NLT) says “The person who has my commandments and obeys them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and will reveal myself to him.” As a parent, I need to teach my children well. Pro. 22:6 (NET) says “Train a child in the way that he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” The word train here, chanak, means to train up, dedicate, or inaugurate. Train in the passage is an action word that means to develop habits, thoughts, or behavior of a child or other person. Dedicate means to consecrate or set apart for a deity or sacred purpose. And inaugurate means to make a formal beginning. The goal then is to set our children apart from the beginning to have habits and behaviors that honor on God. Doing this with a relentless passion and hunger, will not only change their lives, but the world.
Lord, I need you to reveal yourself to me so that I can know what to do next. Life is so full of twists, turns, and circumstances that I can not make it through without hearing from You. Make the path so clear that there is no mistaking that I am right and going the way that You have ordained. Close all doors that are not of You and open all doors that I am to pass through. I lay down my fears and insecurities at Your feet. Replace them oh God with you peace, love, and joy. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
